The Red Chair

Beer is food. It’s true.
When monks decided to turn hops and crops into a beverage it was meant to sustain.
Today, we think of beer as much more of a beverage, a treat.
And treats need a store, right? A place to be.
Today, St. Paul got their signature treat shop: St. Clair Ave’s The Wine Thief opened their Ale Jail today, a beer bottle store to rival St. Louis Park’s Four Firkins.
Specialty brews abound, and though they’re still lining the shelves and painting the building, The Ale Jail looks to be a huge leap forward in craft beer buying in St. Paul.
Today we nabbed a dry hoppe ale from Founders.
The vino selection is well curated, well priced and not overwhelming like so many wine shops.
Tomorrow, well, likely more beer to be bought.
